As part of its emphasis on Linux application development, Sun Microsystems on Thursday announced that it's added a new online community specifically targeting Linux to its java.net portal.
The portal's new addition, called linux.java.net, targets Java developers who work on Linux or want to roll out their creations to that operating system, said Sun.
The site will provide blogs, so-called 'wikis' (Web sites that can be easily edited by visitors), and software tools, according to Sun. The community is up and running now.
"The new Linux Community at linux.java.net is a great place for developers who want to explore Java on Linux," said Linux advocate Chris DiBona in a statement released by Sun. "This will be an important place to visit if you want to know more about developing and deploying Java solutions on Linux."
