NBC Signs Two-Year Deal With Overture

By

NBC on Monday said it had signed a two-year deal to carry Overture Services' paid listings on its NBC.com and BravoTV.com Web sites.

NBC, based in Burbank, Calif., will incorporate Overture within SLI Systems' search technology, which is designed to learn from a user's queries and deliver results geared toward that person's behavior over time. NBC has about a 20 percent stake in SLI Systems, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo! Inc.

NBC uses search technology to provide visitors with entertainment content, media products, and the ability to find retail products on ShopNBC.com.

Overture's paid-search listings are generated from the company's more than 100,000 advertisers, who bid for placement on keywords relevant to their businesses. A paid listing is marked as a "sponsored listing" in search results.
