Trying to bring some sanity to Outlook inboxes, Open Field Software on Wednesday shipped Ella, a learn-by-example assistant that processes incoming messages and organizes them into folders.
Rather than rely on rules and lists, Ella allows users to set examples of which messages they want to read first, which they want to review later, and which are junk mail. A wizard walks users through the process of demonstrating the type of messages to leave in the inbox, or drop into "later" or "spam" folders.
Ella, which works with Outlook 2000 and XP, running on Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP -- costs $30. A free 15-day trial version can be downloaded from the Open Field Software Web site.
