Salesforce.com on Thursday shipped an integrator that ties its online, on-demand customer service management (CRM) service with Microsoft's Outlook e-mail client.
The salesforce.com-to-Outlook integration lets users contact customers and sales leads using either application, without worries about trapping data on the desktop.
Users can send and receive e-mail messages via Outlook, associate them with the appropriate salesforce.com contact, and decide which messages to log into salesforce.com's records -- all from within Outlook.
There's no need to integrate at the Exchange server level, claimed the company, making it possible for firms to immediately roll out this tool to their sales teams without IT help.
