Apple Intros Dual-Processor G4s, Drops Prices On LCD Screens

Trying to keep up with the multi-processor Joneses, Apple on Tuesday debuted a new line of Power Mac G4 computers, two of which come with dual processors.

The new G4 lineup features a choice of single 1-GHz, dual 1.25-GHz, or dual 1.42-GHz processors at prices that range from $1,499 to $2,699. All machines sport FireWire 800, and support for both the 54 Mbp/s AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth wireless networking.

Apple also introduced a new 20-inch monitor, the Cinema Display, for $1,299, and slashed prices on two other flat-panel displays. The 23-inch Cinema HD Display got a price cut from $3,499 to $1,999, while the 17-inch Studio Display dropped from $999 to $699.
