Getting more out of less, Port80 Software on Tuesday launched httpZip, a module for Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) that accelerates Web page delivery with automatic HTTP compression.
HttpZip can compress pages by as much as 98 percent, according to Port80, by using the GZip and Deflate encoding algorithms. HttpZip also offers optional white space removal and cascading style sheet compression to improve performance.
HttpZip runs on Windows NT/2000/XP systems installed with IIS 4.0, 5.0, and 5.1. It can be downloaded directly from Port80 for $300 per single server.
