Compaq Computer Corp. (stock: CPQ) is working on a computer than may help discover what's programming the people who program it. The company will team up with Sandia National Laboratories and Celera Genomics Group to develop a 100-teraop prototype supercomputer by 2004, based on future versions of the Alpha chip. Compaq and Sandia will cooperate in developing hardware and software designed for computational biology, including research on the human genome.
