Oracle Corp. is close to unveiling the latest offering in its swelling B-to-B exchange portfolio: Supply Chain Exchange.
Supply Chain Exchange, which is expected to debut next week at Oracle's B-t-B Day at the company's headquarters in Redwood Shores, Calif., is a multi-enterprise solution that supplies advanced communication, collaboration, and optimization among trading partners across all tiers of a supply chain, according to company information.
In addition, Oracle (stock: ORCL) plans to launch two more Oracle Exchange offerings in the coming month -- a Logistics Exchange and Leads Exchange.
The launch of this new B-to-B functionality, which closely follows the Oracle Product Development Exchange announced last September, demonstrates the company's fast-paced moves in recreating traditional line-of-business applications as Internet services.
Oracle, for example, sells a line of supply chain applications as part of its eBusiness 11i suite.
The Oracle Supply Chain Exchange (OSCE) offering slated to debut next week is designed for multiple companies connected in a B-to-B environment.
Oracle said the solution, which integrates disparate e-mail, ERP systems, and EDI links among various companies, will allow increased ability to track customer demand, decreased order-to-delivery cycle times, reduced inventory, and improved sharing of supply-and-demand information across trading partners.
One Oracle partner who declined to be named said the Supply Chain Exchange is a natural evolution for uses of B-to-B exchanges in place of, or in addition to, in-house supply chain applications.
