Acta Supplies Caching For i2

Acta Supplies Caching For i2

By Antone Gonsalves ,

Acta Technology Inc. and i2 Technologies Inc. plan to announce a partnership next week in which Acta will supply data-caching software customized for i2's TradeMatrix electronic marketplace applications.

Acta has customized its eCache technology to support data pivotal to TradeMatrix, such as vendor inventory and financial, purchasing, sales, and other information found in private marketplaces and exchanges, said Bob Carbo, head of Acta business development.

Acta expects most of the partnership sales to be among large enterprises looking to leverage Internet technology for trading with partners, Carbo said.

Caching is often used to store data frequently accessed via the Web or internal applications. Analytical and reporting tools used by business managers most often tap caches, which reduce the load on critical back-end systems.

The partnership, which is scheduled to be announced Monday, includes joint sales and marketing, but further financial details were not released.

I2 (stock: ITOO) is headquartered in Dallas.

Acta, Mountain View, Calif., is beta testing the TradeMatrix eCaches, which are scheduled to ship in January.

Web integrators currently deploy third-party caching tools in TradeMatrix through i2's open application programming interfaces, Carbo said.

Acta's eCache will be the first caching product packaged specifically for TradeMatrix.
