IBM Corp. (stock: IBM) has begun beta testing on a standards-based new data mining tool. Intelligent Miner Scoring Services, an option with the IBM DB2 Universal Database, enables companies to rank customers according to a set of predetermined criteria, enabling, for example, a loan officer servicing a customer to determine the client's credit rating immediately. Intelligent Miner is based on Predictive Modeling Markup Language, an XML-based language. DB2 Intelligent Miner Scoring Services is scheduled for general availability early next year.
