Sun Will Ship Database With Forte Java Tool

Sun Microsystems Inc. (stock: SUNW) will start shipping this month PointBase Inc.'s database in Sun's Forte for Java integrated development environment, officials said Tuesday. The 5 MB-version of the PointBase Embedded Server, which is written in Java, will be included with Forte for Java IDE Tools Enterprise and Internet editions. PointBase specializes in technology for synchronizing data between backend systems and wireless devices, PDAs, and other mobile devices. PointBase also is bundled with Visual Caf for Java, an IDE from WebGain Inc. PointBase Inc. is located in Mountain View, Calif.; Sun in Palo Alto, Calif.
