NSI Litigant Drops Case Over Domain Name Fees

By

Network Solutions, now a VeriSign company (stock: VRSN), said Friday that attorneys have dropped their class action suit against NSI and the Commerce Department over Internet domain name registration fees. The plaintiffs in the potential $1.7 billion lawsuit, William D. Hoefer, et al. v. U.S. Department of Commerce, et al., filed a voluntary dismissal. The case had been transferred from federal court in San Francisco to federal court in Washington, D.C. It was the second class-action suit brought by the same attorney against the Herndon, Va., Internet address registrar, both of which have been dismissed.
