By Mark Hachman,
As expected, Intel has cut the price of its 333-MHz Slot 1 Pentium II processor by 19 percent, from $722 to $584, a side benefit of the company's conversion to a 0.25-micron process.
The next round of price cuts is scheduled for the second quarter, and will go into effect April 15. At that time, a 400-MHz Pentium II will sell for $824, a 350-MHz for $621, a 333-MHz for $492, a 300-MHz for $375, a 266-MHz for $246, and a 233-MHz for $198. The Covington 266-MHz Pentium II, without Level 2 cache, will sell for $155. All prices reflect 1,000-unit quantities.
