Intel Corp. on Monday unveiled three processors for personal digital assistants.
The new chips include two additions to the PXA26x product line, including the Intel PXA263 and the PXA260. The PXA263 is Intel's first stacked processor for PDAs, while the PXA260 is a "pin compatible" product that makes upgrading a PDA design more cost-effective for OEMs.
The third product, the Intel PXA255 processor, replaces the Intel PXA250 chip and extends the overall system performance and battery life of PDAs.
Production volumes of the Intel PXA263 and Intel PXA260 are expected in the second quarter, with products using the new processors available later this year. The Intel PXA263 and PXA260 will sell for $42.35 and $22.85, respectively in 10,000 unit quantities. The Intel PXA255 processor is available now.
