SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- San Francisco based Roar Engine is launching its new service, roar.io, a virtual goods management platform, at Angel Hack 2 March 3-5 2012.
"Virtual goods generate 4x the revenue of ads. However, there is no easy, fast, and secure way for game developers to implement virtual goods. This is the first chance developers have to get their hands on a completely new solution to virtual goods management. At AngelHack 2 1,000 developers in Boston and San Francisco will compete for over $75,000 in prizes to build the best new app in the lead up to GDC," said Roar Engine Co-Founder and CEO, Clint Walker.
"The new platform has been developed on top of our proven social game building backend. This has allowed us to rapidly create a server authoritative system for virtual goods management that's integrated with other backend services and your game client to ensure the highest level of security possible. There's nothing worse than cheats hacking your game, stealing virtual goods and ruining the fun of legitimate competition for all of your players," said Roar Engine Co-Founder and CTO, Dr Mike Anderson.
roar.io is configurable from any modern browser via an HTML5 web app. Developers can edit player properties, virtual goods and actions based on analytics formed from both client and server side data.
"We've really closed the loop on all of the awesome services that help drive your game to the top of the revenue charts. Truly analytics driven game design and management was previously the domain of the big guys. Now every game developer can have the power of a fully integrated monetization machine behind their games without any backend knowledge or any effort to manage multiple APIs from disparate services. The best thing is that it's free. We won't charge you anything until roar.io starts making money for you."
The initial release of roar.io will be for browser games, targeted at Unity and HTML5 developers distributing via Facebook, Google+ and the open web. Mobile platform integrations for both iOS and Android will be rolled out in the weeks following GDC.
