SANTA ANA, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- A 24hour Photo Mural-thon via UStream will be hosted live by the Art Miles Mural Project on Friday, May 14, 2010 in Santa Ana.  The interactive event will share a constantly-growing collection of art that has promoted healing and peace worldwide.

Circle of Cause, an NGO media consortium, will produce the Photo Mural-thon to cap the United Nations International Decade for a Culture of Peace.  During the last ten years, Art Miles has championed the painting of more than 4,000 life-size canvas murals by more than 500,000 children (and some adults ) in 125 countries.

People featured at the Photo Mural-thon

  • Local school children will paint panels of a twelve-mile mural to be installed across Egypt this fall, culminating in construction of a Muramid built of digitized images.
  • Professional photographers will digitally document the mural panels during themed collaboration sessions.
  • There will be performances by Scarlet Rivera, Music Mile Ambassador and one of the world's most high-profile violinists; Paul Hanna, Art Miles Mural Project composer and musician Evren Ozan, teenage Native American flute musician; and LA Music Award winner Spirit Soul and Friends.
  • Ally Woodard, age 10, Art Miles Ambassador and youngest-ever recipient of the White House Project's Epic Award, will be recognized for her role in delivering hand-painted sneakers to thousands of children in Africa, Bangladesh, Mexico, Cambodia, and Haiti.
  • Honored guests will be Art Miles co-founders Fouad and Joanne Tawfilis; Joanne is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the 2nd World Conference on Arts Education in Seoul, South Korea.

Quote from John Brown, Circle of Cause

"If art reflects life, then this art can help any viewer value life.  People have told me that seeing these murals makes them thankful for their lives and hopeful for the lives of others.  The Photo Mural-thon and the Muramid in Egypt will inspire many more to be actively engaged by the Art Miles Mural Project."
