PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Polycom, Inc. , the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, today announced that the new award winning SoundStructure(TM) series, the first installed audio solutions for voice and video conferencing applications delivering truly immersive sound quality, are now available to customers in North America, Europe and parts of Asia.
Leveraging Polycom's proven technology and market leadership in installed audio solutions, SoundStructure solutions are flexible and comprehensive room systems that deliver state-of-the-art performance and audio processing capabilities. The series provides breakthrough sound quality for conference rooms, classrooms, customized meeting rooms, and telepresence environments.
"We are pleased with the early recognition our industry has given the SoundStructure series," said Craig H. Richardson, vice president and general manager of installed voice solutions at Polycom. "The solutions have clear advantages for installed voice systems in any size facility. Whether used on their own or combined with Polycom's industry-leading high definition HDX video conferencing solutions, SoundStructure will provide a completely immersive collaboration experience that can't be implemented with other installed audio solutions."
"The SoundStructure will provide us with the missing link we need in broadcasting our music performances and Master Classes in a video conference setting," said James Sizemore, Audio Engineer/Sound Designer at the Manhattan School of Music. "With its individual input channel acoustic echo cancellation, microphone preamps, dynamic processors, and robust routing and wiring features, the SoundStructure provides us with all the audio tools necessary for a professional mixing and broadcasting system."
SoundStructure, which was introduced at the InfoComm convention in June 2007, has been recognized by three audio/visual (AV) industry publications as one of the best products of InfoComm:
-- Gary Kayye's rAVe, a prominent AV consultant's biweekly online newsletter, named SoundStructure the "Best New Conferencing System Product" at InfoComm. In announcing the award, Kayye stated "It's an HD audio system (22 kHz) that truly sounds like you're all in the same room when you're talking on it -- you can't even tell you're in an audio conference." -- Pro AV magazine included SoundStructure in its "InfoComm Hot Products" list, stating "Full-frequency sound and full-stereo echo cancellation contribute to what Polycom calls an 'immersive audio experience,' which will provide superior audio to any voice-only teleconference and is the perfect audio complement to a high-definition videoconference." -- Sound & Video Contractor magazine named SoundStructure a "Pick Hit" of InfoComm. To be named a Pick Hit, the magazine said, a product "must be technologically innovative, designed to help systems contractors offer more to their clients, while making their own jobs easier."
Designed for installed room environments, systems integrators and AV professionals, the SoundStructure series are comprehensive systems featuring multiple input and output options and submix processing capabilities that simplify installation and provide flexibility for any room configuration. Several design features have been implemented to support integrator needs, including 22 kHz stereo acoustic echo cancellation on all input channels; feedback elimination and advanced ambient noise cancellation on all input channels; flexible telephony options; and direct digital connection to Polycom HDX(TM) high definition video systems.
The Polycom SoundStructure products are available in 8, 12 and 16 input/output "C" (conferencing) models with two plug-in cards for single and dual line telephony options.
