Carly Fiorina, Anne Mulcahy, and Patricia Russo have a big booster. Ex-General Electric CEO Jack Welch, speaking at the InformationWeek Spring Conference last week, said the heads of Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, and Lucent Technologies are courageous because each of the three women took over companies in turmoil.
"The worst thing [for diversity] is that these three get shot for taking jobs" no one else would want, Welch said. "That would create a gender issue that the media will have a field day with."
