Netgear on Monday rolled out a thumb-sized, USB-based wireless adapter, claiming that its range is three times that of standard 802.11g with speeds twice as fast.
Dubbed the Netgear 108 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter -- to tout the 108Mbps transmission speed -- the gizmo plugs into a USB port and is working in minutes after a software wizard's run on the Windows 2000 or XP system, said Netgear.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based networking manufacturer pitched the $79.99 adapter at users who frequently use high-bandwidth applications, such as media streaming.
The new adapter will be available this week.
