Continuing its effort to serve Web site owners through their Web hosting providers, Google on Thursday expanded the set of tools it offers to hosting services.
Under the name Google Services for Websites, the company is now offering hosting companies access to more search and advertising services, and also ensuring its continued access to data about how people are using the Web.
"Today, we're releasing Google Services for Websites, a few more tools that your hosting company can now enable to help you improve your Web site," said Google group product manager Rajat Mukherjee in a blog post. "This expanded program includes Webmaster Tools, AdSense, Custom Search, and Site Search, making it easier to drive traffic to your site, monetize your site through the Google ad network, and add various search capabilities to help your visitors find information on your site faster."
AdSense is Google's advertising program for publishers. It allows Web site owners to place Google ads on their sites and share ad revenue with Google. Custom Search allows site owners to create a custom search engine that searches one or several sites. Site Search is a paid version of Custom Search that doesn't include ads and allows more flexible formatting to accommodate businesses that want their branding on their customized Google search engine.
Through Google Services for Websites, Web hosting companies will be able to offer customers the ability to deploy Google services with only a few clicks. And hosting companies that enroll in the Google Affiliate Network can collect referral fees for customers who sign up for AdSense or upgrade from Google Custom Search to Google Site Search.
