PERU, Ill., Oct. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The first-ever Facebook promotion by Illinois Valley Community Hospital (IVCH) heads the list of activities scheduled both inside and outside the hospital in observance of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

IVCH is inviting Facebook fans to "like" the hospital's page on the social media site and encouraging them to submit photos of themselves wearing pink in support of breast cancer awareness and to help women realize the importance of early detection in combating the disease. 

How It Works
Each photo received will be entered into the hospital's "Wear Your Pink" contest with the five top photos earning prizes.  The prizes include:

• One 13-week membership in the IVCH Real Results weight management program as the first of two grand prizes.
• Five sessions with an IVCH athletic trainer to develop a personal exercise plan as the second of the two grand prizes.
• Five gift certificates for one-hour massages from an IVCH massage therapist for five second place grand prize winners.

Other Women's Health Events in October
IVCH is also giving away pink shopping bags during its "Pink Saturday at Peru Mall" event from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, at Center Court in the Mall. Women who stop by the IVCH display will also be able to make appointments for digital mammograms.

In addition, IVCH massage therapists Amy Stash and Brittany Mellott are giving free chair massages to women who have mammograms at the hospital on selected dates in October.  The massages are being offered in the diagnostic imaging department from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on October 8, 12, 15, 16, 19, 22, 25, 26 and 29.
