Integrating Ampt StringView™ Data into meteocontrol's PV Performance Monitoring Solution Gives Customers a Higher Accuracy and Lower Cost Alternative to Smart Combiners to Improve Operations
ALAMEDA, Calif. and FORT COLLINS, Colo., Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- meteocontrol North America, Inc., a global leader in solar performance products and services, today announced a partnership with Ampt, an innovative designer of active electronics for photovoltaic (PV) solar modules, to deliver enhanced string-level data as part of its comprehensive monitoring software solution. This partnership allows engineering, procurement and construction professionals (EPCs) and system integrators to more effectively monitor and manage large-scale PV systems, while also reducing costs up to 10 times by eliminating the costs associated with smart combiners for string monitoring.
"By partnering with Ampt, we can continue to expand our offering to customers to ensure the highest quality and value monitoring solutions," said Benjamin Compton, COO & VP Commercial Operations of meteocontrol North America. "Integrating Ampt's technology as part of our monitoring portfolio provides our customers with a lower cost, comprehensive solution to efficiently and accurately manage the operations of their photovoltaic systems."
meteocontrol's software platforms will incorporate Ampt's StringView technology to provide customers with string-level production insight gathered from each module. System Integrators and EPCs no longer need to incur the hardware and labor costs of installing smart combiner boxes—this reduces the cost of string monitoring by up to 10 fold. meteocontrol's safer'Sun and Virtual Control Room portals use Ampt's module-integrated DC optimizers to collect string-level data, and then efficiently manage information to quickly and accurately identify and locate problems. Operating via a wireless two-way connection, the monitoring solution retrieves synchronous data from up to 250 strings, with 0.25 percent measurement accuracy, and is accessible via Modbus protocol to easily integrate with other onsite devices.
"We are excited to partner with meteocontrol to continue our mission of offering customers PV solutions that reduce cost and increase efficiency," said Levent Gun, CEO at Ampt. "Our joint solution with meteocontrol gives customers more control over their PV system, and enables them to make better decisions to protect their investment and increase ROI."
