Online Dog Sitting Resource Adds 29 New Partners to Dog Charity Program
SEATTLE, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rover.com, a website connecting dog owners with local dog sitters as an affordable, cage-free alternative to traditional kennels, today announced that its Sit a Dog, Save a Life™ program has expanded to include 29 animal-related charities and over 2,400 participating sitters nationwide.
Sit a Dog, Save a Life™ enables participating Rover.com sitters, who can be identified by a badge on their Rover.com profile, to donate all or a portion of their pet-sitting proceeds to a pet-related charity. The program has seen a 150 percent increase in donations month over month since May 2012.
"The success of the Sit a Dog, Save a Life™ program is indicative of the character of our community of dog lovers," said Aaron Easterly, CEO at Rover.com. "Rover.com is committed to the mission of providing all dogs with real, loving homes while their families are traveling. We are equally committed to helping dogs who may not yet have a permanent home, or whose families may need extra support to keep their pets at home. The growth of our Sit a Dog, Save a Life™ program reaffirms this commitment and empowers our community to help dogs in need throughout the U.S."
The expansion of the Sit a Dog, Save a Life™ program aligns with the company's overall business growth. Rover.com, which has been likened to an Airbnb for dogs, announced a national rollout in April of this year and has grown to over 34,000 members to date.
