ArgoNavis Video Decoder Features Offer Outstanding Performance, Flexibility and Cost Effectiveness for Broadcast, Cable, Content Distribution, Medical and Education Applications
CLEARWATER, Fla., Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Vela Research today announced a major feature update release for the ArgoNavis Decoder, a powerful multi-format MPEG-2 and H.264 decoder solution, designed for the content distribution, ad insertion, local origination, medical imaging and education applications of broadcasters, cable operators, and other demanding users worldwide. This system is ideally suited for mezzanine file playback, digital signage, studio contribution, news distribution and ad insertion, as well as quality control and verification of SDI, VANC and Closed Captioning data integrity.
The ArgoNavis Decoder is an advanced professional decoder with the ability to decode in SD and HD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 H.264, Apple® ProRes and VC1 formats. The system is capable of decoding content from a wide variety of sources and provides operators with a broad array of input and output options. The system seamlessly integrates into the existing workflow environments in broadcast studios, cable master control, post-production studios, and most types of content-preparation and distribution sites. It allows for the convenient up-conversion of SD materials to HD, or down-conversion of HD content, eliminating the time, expense and disruption of re-encoding video content, and providing operators much greater flexibility and capabilities than ever before.
Kevin McDowell, Vela's Director of Sales, said "the ArgoNavisDecoderis highly cost-effective, at under $8,000 per system. The ability for customers to intuitively and rapidly integrate it into their existing workflow processes, eliminate time-consuming and disruptive extraneous steps to transcode or trans-rate content, and avoid the frustration of overloading existing computing resources with these processes is a major plus." For full specs, see: http://www.vela.com/vela/ArgoNavisDecoder.aspx.
Kevin Grubbs, Vela's Director of Engineering said, "the ArgoNavis Decodersystem decodes 4:2:0 SD and 4:2:0/4:2:2 HD MPEG-2, H.264, VC1 and ProRes content - and supports a multitude of other professional quality features, such as HD/SD SDI output, genlock, optional UDP and RTP streaming, component, composite and HDMI outputs, up to 16 channels of embedded audio, analog stereo audio, AES/EBU digital audio, NTSC and PAL formats. To further enhance the value of this solution in complex and demanding workflow environments, the ArgoNavis Decoder also comes with an optional SDI & VANC Monitoring module and Closed Captioning Verification functionality."
The current major feature release includes the following features:
The ArgoNavis Quad SDI & VANC Monitor allows the operator to monitor up to 16 channels of SDI audio in real time, and operator alerts can be set to trigger if audio levels exceed user-defined thresholds. Individual channels can be selected for monitoring. It also enables users to decode and monitor 608 and 708 Closed Captioning from the VANC in real-time – and of particular interest to many of our customers, the Closed Captions can be viewed simultaneously without obstructing the video. Operators can also decode and view Active Format Descriptor (AFD), and detect Broadcast Flag and Dolby Audio Metadata.
Operators in the broadcast, cable, content distribution, post-production, education, digital signage, and healthcare markets interested in further information or in test-driving the ArgoNavis Decoding solution are invited to contact Kevin McDowell at 954-558-2063 (email@example.com).
