Nasatka Security's All Electric Vehicle Barrier Exceeds Cycle Testing Expectations
Nov 10, 2011 (04:11 PM EST)

CLINTON, Md., Nov. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- David Natelson, President of Maryland-based Nasatka Security, announced today that their NMSB IIID steel plate vehicle barrier exceeded the expectations of the U.S. Department of State (DOS) active vehicle barrier cycle test specification, by completing nearly 1.5 million up/down cycles of continuous operation between April and September 2011. Per the specification, the barrier was run non-stop, with no allowance for pausing the test for preventative maintenance or inspections.

The cycle testing was performed at the Texas Transportation Institute at the Texas A&M University System, in College Station, Texas.

The IIID electric barrier successfully completed 1,491,455 cycles, before a replaceable cable failed. The test was conducted in accordance with U.S. Department of State (DOS) Standard Specifications, section 02844, paragraph 1.2 B.

"We were very happy to hear such a high cycle completion on the IIID Barrier and anticipate many more successful releases on various other all electronic barriers manufactured by Nasatka Security. With today's economic conditions and tight budgets, our customers expect a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for their security platforms. Through the use of linear actuators and better system control accommodated with electric servo drive technology, Nasatka's IIID electric barrier ran uninterrupted for what totals over five years of barrier cycles at a high vehicle volume site," said Natelson.

For the past 12 months, Nasatka Security has worked to reorganize several areas within their company, and most recently rebranded their service offerings from solely barrier protection to complete security integration solutions.

Additional security solutions include:

  • Infrastructure and Perimeter Security Enhancements
  • End to End Communication systems for Physical Security Equipment and Command Control Software
