Redmond School District in Oregon Selects Edupoint to Help Meet Its Vision of Proficiency-Based Teaching and Learning
Oct 13, 2011 (04:10 PM EDT)

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Edupoint™ Educational Systems, a leading student information system (SIS) solutions provider to the national K-12 market, has been selected by the High Desert Education Service District to replace its eSIS SIS solution with Edupoint's GENESIS™ SIS. Extensive evaluations were performed by the ESD and the districts it serves, including the Redmond School District, and the combined strengths of the GENESIS SIS and integrated TeacherVUE™ Gradebook outperformed others during their functional and technical reviews.

Redmond School District, which serves more than 7,000 elementary, junior high, and high school students in central Oregon, follows a simple motto: Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day. This forward-thinking district saw the value of moving toward proficiency-based scoring and learning across all its campuses. Having seen firsthand the integration issues that arise with bolting a gradebook solution onto a student information system, Redmond wanted to find a fully integrated solution that offered rich functionality in both the SIS and teacher gradebook areas.

"Not only did we need a proven SIS for the day-to-day activities of the district and individual schools, but we also needed a gradebook that would open the communication cycle between parents, students, and teachers," explains Rachel Wente-Chaney, Chief Information Officer for Redmond School District. "Edupoint's GENESIS provides us with the necessary tools for standards-based grading and proficiency-based teaching and scoring. Teachers, parents and students are able to look beyond just a simple letter or percentage grade, and see where students are proficient and where they might need some extra work. Edupoint provides us a proven solution that lets us accomplish our district goals right out of the box."

"We are excited to support High Desert ESD and the Redmond School District as they implement the complete GENESIS suite," said Rob Wilson, President and COO of Edupoint. "Their instructional vision and focus on proficiency-based teaching and scoring across all schools in their district is one that we share as well. With the TeacherVUE Gradebook, and ParentVUE and StudentVUE web portals, we provide the communication and collaboration tools necessary for continuous and ongoing evaluation of student performance. We look forward to being their long-term partner."

GENESIS is a true web-based SIS solution that provides easy access to real-time data for all users – administrators, teachers, parents and students.
