SARASOTA, Fla., Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB) is "Searching For Sara" with a new Facebook contest offering individuals named Sara the chance to win a themed trip to this Gulf Coast destination. The contest, which launches today, is open to anyone named Sara, regardless of the spelling. Entrants will choose one of four vacations that best suits their personality. The categories are: eco/adventure/sports, arts/culture/romance, family/attractions/beaches and culinary. They will then be asked to state why they belong on a vacation in Sarasota County.
The eco/adventure/sports trip can incorporate activities such as camping at Myakka River State Park, kayaking mangrove tunnels near Lido Key or a Baltimore Orioles spring training game. The arts/culture/romance theme can include visits to the Ringling Museum of Art, the theatre and the ballet, along with spa experiences, fine dining and shopping.
The family/attractions/beaches trip can include visits to the GWIZ Science Museum, Sarasota Jungle Gardens and Mote Marine Aquarium, in addition to time spent on the powdery white-sand beaches of Sarasota's islands. Foodies will gobble up the culinary category, which will allow them to wine and dine at Sarasota's best restaurants, while also learning about the area's agritourism movement.
Saras can enter by "liking" the SCVB on Facebook at www.facebook.com/VisitSarasota and completing the contest entry form by October 21, 2011. Voting will be open from October 22 – November 7, 2011. The top three finalists for each category will be determined by the number of "likes" they receive on Facebook. Winners will also receive a digital camera to document their adventure and share with other fans of Sarasota on Facebook.
Grand prize winners will be chosen by an internal SCVB selection panel and announced by December 1, 2011. Through signed agreement, winners will be required to share photos and videos from their journey on the SCVB's Facebook page and website, www.sarasotafl.org.
