The success of the 10GE market has been driven by innovation from both optical module and silicon vendors, says Simon Stanley, research analyst for Heavy Reading Components Insider and author of the report. "With several vendors now shipping low-power 10GBase-T PHY devices, the number of 10GBase-T ports is set to grow quickly in the next few years, exceeding the number of optical ports shipped. To compete with the market leaders the other vendors must focus on niche products or look to build a strong market position for 40GE and 100GE PHY devices."
