i/o Data Centers Opens an 830,000 SF Site in a Former New York Times Location

EDISON, N.J., April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's largest modular data center, an 830,000 SF facility known as "i/o NEW JERSEY" was officially opened in Edison this past week by i/o Data Centers, a digital technology, design and engineering company headquartered in Phoenix, AZ. This is the company's third data center. They have two other two locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona.

i/o Data Centers, a global firm, will occupy a former New York Times facility located off of Exit 10 of the New Jersey Turnpike that once housed printing and warehouse operations.

The client engaged the UGL Services/Iselin, NJ office led by Senior Vice President Peter Yannotta and Vice President James Cali of Technology Services, to represent its interests in an enormously complex site-selection process that encompassed over two years of research and due-diligence investigation before the final leasing agreement was finalized and signed. Mr. Cali is recognized as a technology and data center expert within the commercial real estate industry.

"Since i/o was utilizing a proprietary container technology, known as 'i/o Anywhere,' the building and the supporting infrastructure that was required had unique requirements," explained Cali. "Our ability to understand not only the general real estate needs but also the power and fiber elements enabled us to deliver an all encompassing technology solution."

Mr. Yannotta and Mr. Cali negotiated a long-term lease agreement with Jones Lang LaSalle Managing Director Rob Kossar, SIOR, of the Hasbrouck Heights, NJ office who represented the building owner, KTR Capital Partners.

The new i/o NEW JERSEY data center will provide users with immediate capacity, fiber optic connectivity from two of the largest IP backbones in the world and is located adjacent to one of the largest and most robust power switching stations in the Northeast Region.

Final terms of the lease agreement were not divulged.
