Stackable Discounts for ProfileUnity and Stratusphere Available Through Year-End to Help Educational Institutions Migrate to and Manage Next-Generation Desktops
ATLANTA, Nov 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Liquidware Labs, the leader in assessment, migration, and user experience management for next-generation desktops, today announced the availability of exclusive concurrent user licensing of their ProfileUnity and Stratusphere solutions for academic customers, as well as an additional 15% discount through the end of the year.
Liquidware Labs Stratusphere and ProfileUnity are in use by academic institutions around the world of all sizes, ranging from private schools to public universities with more than 50,000 users. ProfileUnity offers full user state virtualization management, enabling one unified user profile and consistent user experience across any Windows desktop infrastructure including VMware, Citrix, Windows XP, and Windows 7. Customers leverage its flexibility to migrate users to a new desktop platform, offer a persistent user experience (even in non-persistent VDI environments), and to centrally manage user settings and user profiles. Stratusphere is used to assess current desktop infrastructure for next desktop readiness, and to ensure the performance of the new user environment on an ongoing basis.
The new 'concurrent user license' option enables Liquidware Labs' academic customers to save thousands of dollars in licensing costs vs. the traditional 'per user' pricing model. Education institutions typically have many times more desktop users than actual users logged onto their systems at any given time. The new concurrent option enables these customers to pay only for the maximum number of simultaneous users that can be on their network at any given time. This also enables customers to synch up their licensing with platform vendors offering similar licensing, such as VMware and Citrix.
"Liquidware Labs migration and management solutions enable us to assist our customers with their growing need to move to virtual and Windows 7 desktops," said Matt Darlington, President and CEO at ITXen, a Liquidware Labs partner with several academic customers. "We have seen tremendous interest from academic institutions who are looking to first understand their existing environment and needs, and then efficiently implement and manage their upgrade to a next-generation desktop solution. Concurrent licensing for academic institutions with tens of thousands of users but only thousands of PCs or virtual desktops absolutely makes sense in VDI environments so Liquidware Labs' new licensing approach should be well received in the market."
Liquidware Labs Stratusphere and Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity are in use by several educational institutions, and the company has seen greatly increased interest in recent quarters. These offerings can be purchased individually, or combined for a further discount.
