"At our first event, our aim is to create a thought-provoking environment to lend the initial momentum to the movement," said Tatyana Kanzaveli, TEDx licensee. "It's really important to the team that TEDxBayArea TEDWomen create a community inspired to act on what is exchanged and experienced during the event. Our hope is that the energy generated on December 8 will spur participants into action in better applying the often under-utilized, under-appreciated talents of women."

The event will be connected via video-conference to a parallel event in Washington, D.C., and webcast live at: www.livestream.com/TEDx. Replays will be available after the event on the TEDx YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/TEDxTalks.

"TED events provide an exciting forum to exchange a diversity of opinions, and we are honored to be hosting the first global TEDWomen event on the role of women in shaping the future," said Rami Branitzky, managing director, SAP Labs North America. "At SAP we share the TED organization's passion for diversity and dialog and strongly believe that our corporate success derives from the unique perspectives and talents of women and men of various cultures, race and ages."
