BT Discusses Strategies to Optimize Essential Business Decisions at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2010
Oct 20, 2010 (01:10 PM EDT)
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- GARTNER SYMPOSIUM/ITxpo -- BT, in conjunction with Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), co-sponsored a session today at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2010 that outlined strategies to help organizations evaluate the critical nature of all business applications, including cloud-based applications, to drive informed decisions on improved performance and capital investments.
Christie Asmussen, senior product manager, BT Global Services, provided business leaders with a pragmatic and methodical approach to essential business decisions and business continuity plans during the workshop today.
"There's no question that business leaders regularly make critical budget decisions about IT projects that will be implemented over the course of the coming fiscal year," said Asmussen. "To make informed decisions, it's essential for business executives to understand the criticality of IT applications to their business as well as the processes that keep them operating efficiently across the network or in the cloud. Assigning criticality ratings to existing and new applications can also help businesses develop business continuity plans that employ technologies required in the event of a disaster."
According to Randy Schirman, vice president of worldwide channel sales at Riverbed®, "By evaluating the nature of business applications in private and public cloud infrastructures, organizations are better positioned to develop a solid, end-to-end IT strategy and obtain a complete understanding of all the important applications and systems required to operate a business efficiently and successfully."
