Babson Executive Education Develops Online Entrepreneurial Action Program
Sep 24, 2010 (02:09 PM EDT)

BABSON PARK, Mass., Sept. 24  /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Babson Executive Education, through a partnership with Santander Bank, has developed Entrepreneurial Action, an online course for entrepreneurship students in Brazil.

Entrepreneurial Action offers student entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn how to create sustainable, real-world solutions to social, economic, and environmental issues. Launched in May, more than 3,400 students have registered and both BEE and Santander expect this number to reach 5,000.

Bob Caspe, BEE's faculty director for the program, says that Entrepreneurial Action breaks new ground in entrepreneurship education because it does not use the traditional business plan tool.  "Our focus is on action," says Caspe, "Often, the less you know, the better your chances will be for success." The course offers a simple step by step approach to find the business opportunity and start a business, and is built on the accumulated experience of real entrepreneurs who started real businesses.

Says Caspe, "Thanks to the generosity of Bank Santander, this is the first time many of these students have been exposed to the process of entrepreneurship, and I can't wait to see the results."

The Santander Group is the fourth largest bank in the world by profits and eighth by stock market capitalization.  It holds a unique position in international banking, with a solid base of recurrent retail commercial banking and a high degree of geographical diversification, which guarantees its future.  Santander maintains a firm commitment to communities in all the countries in which it is present.  Its main channel for this commitment is Santander Universities, which has 833 cooperation agreements in place with universities throughout the world.  Other CSR actions relating to the environment and social action demonstrate the bank's strong dedication to sustainable development.

Part-time Lecturer Bob Caspe has served as CEO and Chairman of several companies that he cofounded, in several industries. These include: medical electronics, machine vision, graphic arts, photojournalism, and consumer electronics. These companies have developed, under Bob's leadership, everything from integrated computer system products and software, to embedded systems and custom integrated circuits. Common threads throughout all of these companies are the fields of signal processing and imaging. Bob has an engineering background and has expertise as a software and hardware designer. In addition he has a solid theoretical understanding of many signal processing algorithms. Over the years, he has developed a clear understanding of the marketing and growth issues that confront small companies.
