Force10 teams up with Oracle and Citrix to demonstrate how network virtualization automates critical tasks, lowers operational expenses for the virtualized data center
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Force10 Networks, Inc., a global technology leader that data center, service provider and enterprise customers rely on when the network is their business, today announced it will demonstrate interoperable network automation technologies for Oracle environments at Oracle OpenWorld 2010 from September 19–23 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. At booth #429, Force10 will demonstrate Open Automation functionality with Oracle and Citrix.
Force10 to Demonstrate VLAN Configuration and Automation With Oracle and Citrix
Using open-standard protocols, Oracle and Force10 will demonstrate a streamlined environment that offers VLAN automation without requiring middleware. After VLANs are graphically defined in the Solaris OS running on the server, open-standard protocols are then used to "publish" the VLANs requirements to a trusted port of an adjacent Force10 switch automatically. This creates the required VLAN configuration that enables flow-through provisioning of the network element.
At Oracle OpenWorld, Force10 also will demonstrate how Open Automation software performing automated VM/VLAN migration in a Citrix XEN environment helps improve network connectivity and security. Open Automation software will be shown automating the VM and VLAN migration process so that when a VM is migrated, the associated VLAN is automatically provisioned to the new server.
"With the pressing issues that data centers face today, such as growing complexity and rising costs, CIOs and their IT staffs are diligently looking for ways to automate important tasks within their networks," said Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing, Force10 Networks. "Demonstrating our interoperable network virtualization solutions with Oracle and other network virtualization leaders at Oracle OpenWorld shows that the wait is over for deploying robust network automation solutions that reduce operational expenses without vendor lock-in."
