Local Chapter of the National Environmental Hall of Fame Recognizes Savvis for its Commitment to Environmental Stewardship, Efficient Power Consumption and Reduction of its Carbon Footprint

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Savvis, Inc. (Nasdaq: SVVS), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, today announced that it has been inducted into the City of Town & Country Environmental Hall of Fame for its work in the natural capitalism field, green IT category.

Located in St. Louis County, the Town & Country Environmental Hall of Fame is part of the National Environmental Hall of Fame formed in 2008. It is devoted to finding the most effective solutions to help the planet for the least cost. The National Environmental Hall of Fame recognizes environmentalists who are committed to taking a stand for a green sustainable planet.

"We chose to induct Savvis as a member this year because it has engaged in a thoughtful, balanced approach to sustainability," said Allen Rubin, co-coordinator of the National Environmental Hall of Fame. "Savvis is also pursuing environmentally sound data center design and operational excellence, as well as promoting the use of highly efficient virtualized environments."

"We are honored to be inducted into the City of Town & Country Environmental Hall of Fame," said Michelle Hassemer, vice president of global data center operations and leader of Savvis' Green Council. "Savvis takes its corporate responsibility regarding environmental sustainability very seriously and will continually work toward reducing our carbon footprint."

By managing its clients' IT infrastructures and operating its data center facilities as efficiently as possible, Savvis can significantly reduce the impact the company and its clients have on the environment.

Hassemer emphasized that Savvis' work toward reducing its environmental impact requires a thoughtful and balanced approach.

"Our efforts center on data center design and operational excellence, promoting the use of highly-efficient shared and virtualized IT environments, establishing benchmarks for continuous improvement, and encouraging the practice of considering sustainability in the daily decisions we make," said Hassemer.

In the spring, Savvis won the Green Enterprise IT award from the Uptime Institute in the facilities innovation category for upgrading the HVAC system at its NJ2 data center in Weehawken, N.J. This award affirmed the company's commitment to environmental stewardship, efficient power consumption and reduction of its carbon footprint.
