Eva Chen and other winners to be honored at April 8 awards ceremony

CUPERTINO, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Eva Chen, CEO and co-founder of Trend Micro, has been named one of Silicon Valley's "Top 100 Women of Influence" by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. Winners were featured in a special supplement in the March 19 issue of the publication, and the private awards ceremony and dinner will be held at the San Jose Fairmont on April 8.

This year's winners, nominated by their peers, were selected by a panel of Women of Influence judges that includes Martha Marsh, CEO of Stanford Hospital & Clinics; Roberta Hayashi, partner at Berliner Cohen; Jane Williams, CEO of Sand Hill Advisors LLC and Telle Whitney, CEO of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.

Since Trend Micro's inception in 1988, CEO and co-founder Eva Chen has been committed to furthering Trend Micro's 20-plus-year mission of making the world a safer place for the exchange of digital information, and in better serving Trend Micro's customers with powerful security that is tailored to their needs. Before becoming CEO, Eva served as executive vice president from 1988-1996 and CTO from 1996-2004. Under her direction, Trend Micro has produced a string of industry firsts, from unique products to security management approaches. She was appointed CEO in late 2004.

"I'm honored to be chosen as one of the top 100 women of influence in 2010, since this is an honor for Trend Micro as well," said Chen. "Our mission requires a lot of collaboration between technologists, developers, and product- and customer- facing groups. It requires Trend Micro to be agile, flexible, and constantly innovating to meet customer needs. This award reinforces the importance of collaboration and innovation to achieve success."
