LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CES -- Ubicom today announced general availability of turnkey reference designs for several consumer audio products. These turnkey reference designs combine Ubicom's networking expertise with advanced multimedia capabilities of the IP7500 family of 32-bit processors. Ubicom will be demonstrating these solutions at its suite at CES 2010.

The Wi-Fi DLNA Audio Renderer solution by Ubicom provides OEMs and ODMS a turnkey hardware and software solution enabling the quickest time to market for DLNA-compliant wireless audio products. The design is targeted at a wide range of products including wireless Audio clients, iPod docks, speakers, audio players and AV Receivers. Ubicom's software platform is certified for DLNA 1.5, UPnP, Wi-Fi, WPS and Microsoft's Windows 7 ecosystem.

The Ubicom Internet Audio Player Reference Design enables customers with a hardware and software platform to add internet radio streaming to existing products or development of standalone tabletop internet radio products. Thousands of radio stations and music services such as Pandora are accessible through the reference design user interface. The reference design provides a stable base design to add features for further customization using Ubicom's Linux distribution as well as other open-source code bases. Market studies show that Ubicom also provides the most reliable consumer networking solutions built from the experience of shipping millions of networked products.

Ubicom has also partnered with EETimes on an online course about Networked Audio and the technologies involved, available at http://www.techonline.com/learning/course/222002692 .

"We see great momentum in the evolution of audio from traditional sources and media with older consumption models, to newer streaming and wireless experiences. We believe OEMs that move first with compelling products that can interoperate with the PC-Windows ecosystem which is at the center of most stored digital content today, while being easy to connect and use, will win in the emerging market of audio for the millennial generation. This is what we enable with our complete solutions for these applications," said RK Parthasarathy, vice president of marketing at Ubicom.

Ubicom develops networking and multimedia processor solutions that address the unique demands of networking applications and multimedia content delivery in the digital home. The company provides optimized system-level solutions to OEMs for a wide range of products including wireless routers, access points, VoIP gateways, networked DPFs, and streaming media devices.
