The business processes highlighted in the sustainability map reflect the input of many customers and sustainability thought leaders, illustrating the 'outside-in' approach SAP took when developing the map. "Information technology is becoming recognized as an essential enabler of sustainability efforts throughout enterprises in every industry and sector," said Lee Dittmar, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP. "We have observed more and more frequently that the CIO's agenda includes providing technology to manage and report on enterprise-wide energy use and carbon emissions, and determining how information technology can serve as the foundational platform to manage corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives. We are pleased to be collaborating with SAP to develop and deliver solutions and services customers to help them manage their sustainability programs."
