"With Beamz Studio Software, we have turned the Beamz instrument into a high-style MIDI player and controller so that musicians and DJs can assign their own sounds, effects, loops, rhythms and samples to each of the six laser beams and to begin composing their own original interactive music," said Beamz Interactive CEO Charles Mollo. "Targeted at the professional musician and DJs, Beamz Studio Software adds a whole new dimension to musical performances using the Beamz as a stand alone system or as a unique accompaniment with other MIDI and traditional instruments."
By simply passing your hands through any of the six laser beams, musicians can trigger multiple streams of musical notes and sounds. Used as a MIDI player and controller, Beamz Professional adds a new visual impact to musical performances by playing music clips and MIDI instruments assigned to the Beamz lasers instead of pushing buttons or turning knobs to trigger your sounds and effects. The Beamz Professional product consists of the actual unit or instrument, which is a "W-shaped" controller that features six laser beams; a USB cord which links the unit to a computer; and the Beamz Studio Software combined with a DLS collection of unique Beamz-composed music clips. Players also receive two music CDs with the purchase of their system, featuring 30 original songs from a variety of music categories or genres including rock, jazz, blues, reggae, country, hip hop, Latin and classical.
In addition, players also receive 5 additional FREE songs of their choice after they register the product online at www.thebeamz.com. The Beamz website offers a HASH(0x176e6d0) with over a hundred different songs, including original, top hits and kids songs, for purchase. With Beamz Studio software users may edit any of the Beamz songs included with the product and the additional songs available on the Beamz web site. The product also comes with a Quick Start guide and Instructional DVD. You can record your performances of Beamz songs right into the computer and save the music as a wave file (*.wav) or as a Windows Media file (*.wma) to share.
"The Beamz is an innovative instrument that allows people to play and experience music in an amazing way," said HASH(0x1758090) co-partners Tom Hollow and Jim Long. "We are impressed with Beamz Studio Software capabilities, which will provide the opportunity to create Beamz songs using our unique percussion sounds for our Fat Congas musicians to play and perform on the Beamz instrument."
Unlike traditional music, where a musician plays a song by reading and performing to a defined musical score, playing interactive music is spontaneous, dynamic, creative and free flowing - there is no musical score to follow. Players are inspired to interact with the Beamz songs and create unique sounds different from any other type of instrument. And now, with Beamz Studio Software they can edit Beamz songs and create their own Beamz songs using any existing MIDI, WAV and MP3 music files. Whereas a traditional song pre-determines which instruments should be played, an interactive song is composed so that the player may select any instrument or combination of instruments at any time. Interactive music compositions consist of a selection of music clips that could possibly be played at any given moment during a song and are designed for players to perform interactive music with limitless possibilities.
