UK Share Register Data Now Available in the Capital IQ Platform
Mar 02, 2009 (08:03 AM EST)
NEW YORK, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital IQ, a Standard & Poor's business, today announced that it has integrated UK share register data within the Capital IQ platform. Capital IQ has teamed up with London-based JunctionRDS Limited, an independent shareholder analysis house specializing in the institutional ownership of UK companies. The share register data set allows users to view detailed ownership information on listed UK companies with breakout analysis of nominee shareholdings at both the investment manager and beneficial owner level. The integration of UK share register data consolidates Capital IQ's global ownership offering and offers the highest quality analyzed share register data on UK companies in the marketplace.
Unlike many other countries where information about ownership structure is normally derived, in part, from a company's regulatory announcements and investor reports (e.g. fund portfolio reports), UK companies must keep a register of all their shareholders. In turn, this data becomes the basis for compiling a share ownership profile. Ownership holdings are declared on the share register but are often hidden behind individual or pooled nominee names. JunctionRDS investigates and reveals the actual beneficial owners of these shares, providing a full ownership profile of a company.
Share register data in Capital IQ includes common shares held, percent of common shares outstanding, market value, and percent change in ownership position. Data is viewable in multiple currencies and is updated on a regular basis by periodic inspection and analysis of the share register.
"The addition of UK share register data is the last piece in completing our ownership offering and makes us highly competitive in the marketplace," says Ian Rosner, Senior Vice President in Europe for Capital IQ. "We are excited to work with JunctionRDS to bring this share register information to clients who require the most transparent insight into a company's ownership structure."
"JunctionRDS uses a uniquely thorough methodology of capturing shareholders from registers, giving our clients the most comprehensive and complete picture of a company's holdings," says Richard Jenkinson, Managing Director of JunctionRDS. "We are pleased to work with Capital IQ and look forward to providing their clients with the highly detailed ownership information they need for UK domiciled companies."
