Created by and starring comedian Sean Masterson, the creator behind Generate's critically-lauded Web series Home Purchasing Club, Republicrats follows Masterson as a former weather man who forms the "Republicrat" party and runs as the party's presidential candidate. Masterson's approach is to allow the American people to make every major decision in his campaign, from selecting a VP running mate to a First Lady. Viewers will have the opportunity to share their opinions on Masterson's various platforms and pitch themselves to be a part of his presidential Cabinet by uploading videos directly to the Republicrats robust, interactive destination site.
"Republicrats is indicative of the smart, participatory digital storytelling Generate is shepherding across the Web," said Jordan Levin, CEO of Generate. "Comedy and politics account for the majority of the video content audiences watch online, especially in an election year. MSN has a massive daily readership and is a leader in online political content, so we could not be working with a better partner to distribute this show we're so proud of. With the combination of Sean's humor and MSN's audience, we're confident viewers will embrace and participate in the show."
New three-minute webisodes will run over 11 weeks exclusively on MSN. Republicrats is the first release on Generate's fall 2008 slate that also includes the second season of dark Web comedy, Pink: The Series, Somebodies, BET's first original scripted series and Chocolate News, premiering in October on Comedy Central.
