Mattson Technology, Inc. Ships Suprema(TM) Photoresist System to Leading Japanese Manufacturer
Jul 02, 2008 (06:07 AM EDT)

FREMONT, Calif., July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mattson Technology, Inc. , a leading supplier of advanced process equipment used to manufacture semiconductors, today announced that it had received an order for its Suprema(TM) photoresist strip system from a Japanese-based worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of electronic products for a wide range of consumer, business, and industrial needs. The shipment expands Mattson's installed base of Suprema systems, and broadens its leadership in photoresist strip products.

The Company noted that it had recently undertaken an internal analysis of its competitive position in the strip market, the results of which indicate Mattson gained market share in the first half of 2008 as compared to the same period in 2007. David L. Dutton, President and CEO, noted, "Suprema unit shipment has increased year-over-year, which clearly demonstrates its market leadership even through a significant market downturn."

Dutton added, "Suprema continues to win new accounts and gain acceptance by the leading IC manufacturers globally, resulting in market share gain for Mattson in the dry strip arena. This order represents a new account for the Company; and is the result of our valued partnership with Canon, our Japan distributor. Mattson is a leading dry strip supplier to the Japan market, and this order reaffirms the Company's growing presence in this key region."

Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Mattson Technology's Surface Cleaning Group, Neal Holmlund, said, "The success of Suprema is a testament to the extremely high reliability and throughput of the product, coupled with enabling process performance, maturity and extendibility to future technology nodes. This shipment demonstrates Suprema's superior on-wafer performance for advanced logic devices, particularly at the 32nm node. Our customer made a thorough evaluation of Suprema for removability of their toughest HDIS layer, as well as minimum silicon loss performance, and found Suprema to be the superior tool. We look forward to supporting our customer as they make further advances in their technological capabilities."
