Fyreball Launches a Better and Easier Way to Share Rich Media Content With Friends
Apr 15, 2008 (08:04 AM EDT)
BELLEVUE, Wash., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Fyreball, Inc. today issued an open call to anyone who's ever wanted an easier, faster way to share rich media content with their friends. The site allows users to quickly combine videos, pictures, games, gossip, news and text into a single "Fyreball," which they can send to their friends and social networks. Fyreball's technology automatically upscales code for videos, games, and other rich media, allowing the recipients of a Fyreball to view everything directly within that Fyreball's page, getting rid of the need to click on several links. A user can then easily add their own rich content to the Fyreball and forward it to their friends. The Fyreball beta begins a global game of "pass it on," allowing users to view where content and ideas originate, and track those ideas as they spread around the world. Individuals interested in beta testing Fyreball can sign up at http://www.fyreball.com/beta .
Fyreball, Inc. is also launching its application on Facebook(R) Platform. Now Facebook users can send Fyreballs with rich media features to anyone in their Facebook or Fyreball Friends list without ever leaving Facebook Platform. Fyreball users can link their Facebook accounts and share their favorite Fyreballs with all of their Facebook friends, too!
Fyreball is helmed by CEO Pete Parsons, who has headed up some of the most exciting projects in entertainment history, including blockbuster video games "Halo 2" and "Halo 3." Other Fyreball founders include chief technical officer Michael Evans and production director Michel Bastien. Evans served as lead engineer on "Halo 2" and Bungie's "Oni," as well as multiplayer lead on "Halo: Combat Evolved." Bastien was the former lead producer of "Halo 3."
"We're gamers at heart and know how much gamers love the community aspect of the gaming world and how they are constantly sharing complex media content, such as videos, screenshots, game mods, music and other gaming info, with other players around the world," said Parsons. "We knew there had to be a better way than dull hyperlinks to send cool or interesting content to our friends around the world, so we set off to create that solution. That's how Fyreball was born."
Fyreball users choose how they want to receive content (through the Fyreball network, Facebook, direct to email, or IM) and from whom they wish to receive Fyreballs. As Fyreballs blaze around the globe, bouncing from one friend to another, the interactive "trajectory" dynamically shows the Fyreball's path: it lets you see who fyred it, watch where it's going and contribute to Fyreball's rich comment stream.
"Fyreball is the most relevant content on the Internet, filtered specifically for you by those who know you best -- your friends," said Parsons. "When you find something on the web and you know just who would enjoy it, Fyreball provides the fastest, richest way to share it."
Fyreball was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Bellevue, WA.
