Mar 25, 2008 (08:03 AM EDT)
BELLEVUE, Wash., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Bocada Inc., the pioneer and leading provider of data protection reporting and analysis solutions, announced general availability of the Bocada Centralized Manager (BCM) for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM 2007), the first module in the Bocada Unified Management Platform family. This solution, along with Bocada Enterprise 5.1 reporting for DPM 2007 helps reduce the cost and complexity of managing multiple DPM 2007 servers by centralizing management and automating reports and audit trails.
Microsoft DPM 2007 is the preferred data protection solution for Microsoft workloads as it is tightly integrated with SQL Server, Office SharePoint Server, Exchange and Windows operating system platforms. Introduced in November 2007, this solution is rapidly being adopted by enterprise and small and medium-sized business (SMB) organizations.
"Many organizations overlook the opportunity to improve data protection processes and performance because they don't take advantage of tools that provide visibility into their environment. Bocada Centralized Manager is a valuable, complementary solution to DPM 2007 that not only provides a critical central management capability, but also enables organizations to easily adopt DPM on a broad scale," said Lauren Whitehouse, Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group.
The Bocada Centralized Manager for DPM 2007 enables backup, SQL, SharePoint, Exchange and Windows Server administrators and end users to easily manage the protection and recovery of Microsoft workloads.
"Bocada's Centralized Manager complements DPM 2007's reliability and ease of use in providing insights into the performance of backup environments. This is the first step in controlling operating costs and delivering on service level agreements," said Bala Kasiviswanathan, director of storage solutions marketing at Microsoft. "We are pleased that Bocada has chosen to integrate with DPM 2007 to bring this value to our customers."
Key features of Bocada Centralized Manager for DPM 2007 include: -- Monitoring Job Activity -- View status of all jobs across multiple Microsoft DPM 2007 servers -- Restart failed jobs -- Filter jobs based on DPM Server, protected server or priority -- Centrally Manage Configuration -- View all Protection Groups -- View short and long term protection goals -- Automatically track media targets -- Capacity Planning -- View current disk allocations for each DPM 2007 server -- Identify disk pools that have reached or exceeded defined thresholds -- Administration -- All users are authenticated through active directory
"At Bocada, we pride ourselves on providing solutions which enable users to more easily manage their data protection infrastructure while meeting compliance objectives and reducing overall costs. The new Bocada Centralized Manager allows customers to easily integrate management of Microsoft DPM 2007 servers in a heterogeneous data protection environment," said Nancy Hurley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We are excited about the pre-release product traction we have seen and look forward to working closely with Microsoft and its partners to promote the success of the Microsoft DPM 2007 solution."
