Selerant Greens the Bottom Line with Sustainability
Mar 18, 2008 (10:03 AM EDT)

NEW YORK, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Selerant ( ) is pleased to announce the focus of its next Synergy webinar will be on Sustainability. The webinar will be held this Thursday, March 20 at 10am EDT. Participants can register at: .

What is Sustainability?

"Sustainability is definitely much more than recycling or even making products with recycled goods," explains Selerant CEO Carlo Colombo. "Sustainability has been summarized as 'going green.' In essence, it's true. Sustainability involves creating products in a way that is better for the environment. The products themselves are better for consumers in that they are typically made from natural or organic ingredients and will have less negative impact on their own health. Many times, the 'green' product will have a positive impact."

The Sustainability webinar will delve into questions consumers have, such as:

-- What makes an organic product organic? -- Are sustainable products worth the extra cost? -- Do you have to have certifications to be labeled as natural? -- What is a paraben? -- What are some of the health risks associated with these pesticides and preservatives? -- Do the green products really work as well as their traditional counterparts?

"We are truly excited about the lineup for our Sustainability webinar," says Selerant CEO Carlo Colombo. "The three speakers enable us to present a comprehensive picture of sustainability, from the consumer point-of-view, to the forecasting of upcoming trends, and to the realization of the ideology for the corporations."

Consumer Viewpoint

Patrick Kiger will begin the webinar with the consumer's viewpoint--not only what the consumer demands, but how the consumer is being educated. Kiger brings a rich background to the webinar as he has personally researched as well as authored numerous articles and reports for Good Housekeeping, BBC, GQ, the Los Angeles Times Magazine, the Washington Post, George, Mother Jones, National Graphic, NPR, and the Fox News Channel.

Greening the Bottom Line

Lynn Dornblaser, of Mintel, will build upon Kiger's information by making the natural bridge to what consumers will want in the near future and how corporations can create a forecast that will deliver a competitive advantage.

Dornblaser brings a distinctive expertise that has been cited in Prepared Foods, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, and CNN.

Transforming Ideology into Reality

While many can understand the benefits to the environment, personal health, and even the longevity of the corporation, some may find it difficult to take the concept into reality.

Tony Grzesik of Microsoft will explore how sustainability can be realized through best practices methodology and technology on a global scale.

Tony is part of the Enterprise and Partner Group, with a specific focus on working with commercial enterprise customers to improve their processes and capabilities in the areas of Innovation and Product Development.

Selerant's Synergy Series

Selerant's webinar series focuses on topical issues that impact the formula-based manufacturing industry and is offered free-of-charge. "We view our customers as our partners and we have been asked by them to address specific issues and topics," explains Colombo. "We see this webinar as well as our entire webinar series as a service to our current and future partners."
