Raymarine Names Sal Alfano Pro Ambassador of the Year
Mar 17, 2008 (08:03 AM EDT)

MERRIMACK, N.H., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Raymarine, Inc., a world leader in marine electronics, today announced that Sal Alfano has been named the 2007 Raymarine Pro Ambassador of the Year. The annual award recognizes exceptional Pro Ambassadors for their work representing and promoting Raymarine and its products. Throughout the year, Raymarine ambassadors earn points for a variety of promotion activities, including tournament victories, media appearances and work "on the docks" promoting Raymarine, and the Ambassador who earns the most points is awarded the title along with official sponsorship from Raymarine.

Known to Raymarine users on Long Island as "the Guru," Alfano has equipped his 50' Sea Ray with a multitude of Raymarine electronics including two of the company's award-winning E120 multifunction displays, three CAM100 marine cameras, an ST6001 Autopilot Control Head, a Ray240 VHF Radio and the DSM300 Digital Sounder Module, which adds HD Digital(TM) technology to Raymarine E- Series and C-Series displays. Also onboard, Alfano has the Raymarine LifeTag(TM) Man Overboard (MOB) System, a personal wireless man overboard system that monitors up to 16 tagged crew members at once. Alfano has integrated the LifeTag MOB system with his E120 display, so if someone should fall overboard it not only sounds a loud alarm, but also marks the location of the MOB event on his chartplotter.

"It is such an honor to be named Raymarine Pro Ambassador of the Year," said Alfano. "I truly believe that Raymarine offers the most powerful and trustworthy equipment on the market, and I'm looking forward to partnering with the company for years to come."

Raymarine also named runner-up Captain Steve Bent the 2007 Pro Ambassador Achievement Award for his exceptional work representing Raymarine over the past year. Based in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Captain Bent began chartering from South Jersey in 1978 and since starting his own business ten years later spends over 130 days a year on the water. His boat, the 34' Calvin Beal, is equipped with two E120 displays, the DSM300, the S2G SmartPilot Course Computer and a Ray218 DSC VHF Radio with a Raymic Remote Station Handset.

"My advice to anyone spending time on the water is to buy the best -- buy Raymarine," said Captain Bent. "You will never be sorry you did. I have been making a living with this fine electronic equipment for years and it has never once failed me."
