beRecruited has more than 165,000 total registered users, including more than 150,000 high school student-athletes, 9,000 college coaches, and 4,700 high school coaches.

beRecruited allows athletes to create profiles of verified athletic and academic information, as well as browse a comprehensive area of university athletic programs and curriculum. In 2007, more than 81,000 photos and 3,000 videos were uploaded as part of these profiles.

beRecruited had positive growth among all the 18 sports available for registration. Football had the most new registered athletes with more than 20,000 registered football players in 2007, a 201 percent increase over 2006. In terms of overall registration, football, basketball, soccer, and baseball are the top four sports, in order, on beRecruited.

beRecruited was founded in 2000 by Ryan Spoon, a collegiate swimmer for Duke University, in an effort to make the recruiting process more efficient for high school athletes and NCAA coaches. First created exclusively for NCAA swimming and diving, beRecruited now serves athletes and coaches from 18 different sports. beRecruited is a free service for registered users, maintaining the founders' principle of providing a free resource that efficiently and effectively connects student-athletes and coaches nationwide.
