FAIRFAX, VA, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - CGI Group Inc. announced today that its implementation of the ITIMS Imaging System (IIS), an integrated scan, recognition, and storage platform at the Hawaii Department of Taxation (DOTAX,) has won the Best Customer Service Solution at the IBM Information On Demand Conference October 14-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The On Demand Innovation Awards ceremony honored best-in-class applications and solutions from IBM Information Management customers and the customers of its business partners. With IIS, the State of Hawaii DOTAX was recognized in the Best Customer Service Solution category focused on solutions that have significantly improved the level of customer service offered by an organization.
"We are very pleased with the results achieved from our IIS imaging system," said Kurt Kawafuchi, director of the Hawaii Department of Taxation. "The ITIMS Imaging System has significantly improved our customer service by providing instant online access to tax returns. Previously it would take several days to retrieve the paper tax returns. We look forward to continuing to utilize innovative technology solutions like IIS as part of our Administration's ongoing efforts to provide more government services online and to create a paperless environment."
The state chose CGI's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) group, partnering with IBM-FileNet, to improve the overall customer experience as well as streamline the internal processing of tax returns. As a long-term FileNet partner, CGI had the service expertise and know-how to deliver a cost-effective and high-volume platform to the state of Hawaii. The IIS solution provided DOTAX with a comprehensive approach to consistent, centralized, searchable and secure storage that helped the system make better use of information, reduce cost and risk and increase productivity.
"Our partnership with DOTAX over the years has been a model of success," added Michael Keating, Senior Vice-President, CGI. "IIS has continued a series of modernizations at DOTAX, and we are delighted that they are being recognized for their vision, dedication and achievements."
"This collaborative project between the Hawaii Department of Taxation and CGI is improving how we serve the taxpayers of Hawaii and has provided a solid platform for ongoing and future technology enhancements," said Joan M. Bolte, State of Hawaii Taxation Services Administrator and the Project Manager for the ITIMS Imaging System (IIS).
"An extension to IIS will be added for the upcoming income tax season to process 2D Barcodes from approved vendor forms" noted Bolte. "2D Barcodes speed the processing of paper tax returns by eliminating manual key-entry of taxpayer information from the forms."
