Sunrise Clinical Manager, along with Sunrise Pharmacy and Sunrise Knowledge-Based Medication Administration, will help The Brooklyn Hospital Center's clinicians deliver medications more safely to patients. Eclipsys Medication Management tightly integrates the workflows of physicians, pharmacists and nurses with an end-to-end solution that helps reduce miscommunications, delays and avoidable medication errors. The Brooklyn Hospital Center's clinicians will also have access to previous medication orders, the opportunity to review them alongside new orders and plans for care, and a chance to reconcile any differences in a proactive manner.

"As our organization continues its turn around, we felt it was critical to implement a clinical information system to show our community that we are utilizing technology to help improve how we deliver care," said Sam Lehrfeld, chief executive officer, The Brooklyn Hospital Center. "We selected Eclipsys because of the company's proven ability to deliver a successful implementation, including high rates of physician adoption and outcome improvements shortly following activation."

With Eclipsys integrated clinical solutions, The Brooklyn Hospital Center's caregivers will have access to a patient's up-to-date health record across departments and facilities. By implementing Eclipsys solutions in both the inpatient and outpatient environments, The Brooklyn Hospital Center's physicians will only have to learn one user interface, a vital component to help ensure physician adoption of the system and efficiency.

"Sunrise Clinical Manager and the Eclipsys XA architecture gives us the modern integrated platform we need to better coordinate care delivery across our expanding enterprise, while also enabling us to participate in regional health information organization (RHIO) initiatives," said Irene Farrelly, chief information officer, The Brooklyn Hospital Center. "Additionally, the solution's advanced rules engine enables us to manage the complex care delivery workflows in our high-acuity care environments."

The Brooklyn Hospital Center will leverage the evidence-based order sets in Eclipsys Knowledge-Based CPOE(TM) to help improve efficiency and drive adherence to established practices. Eclipsys Knowledge-Based CPOE, adopted by more physicians than any other in the industry, will help speed time to value for The Brooklyn Hospital Center because the user-friendly interface allows physicians to build their own order sets. This engages this key constituent throughout the activation process, helping to ensure high-rates of solution adoption.

"The selection of Sunrise Clinical Manager by The Brooklyn Hospital Center reflects on the continued market recognition of the quality of our modern XA architecture," said R. Andrew Eckert, Eclipsys president and chief executive officer. "Eclipsys is very excited to work with The Brooklyn Hospital Center and implement a system that helps the organization improve patient care outcomes as well as the patient experience."

In addition to automating its acute care environment, The Brooklyn Hospital Center will implement Sunrise Ambulatory Care to automate care delivery in its outpatient clinics, enabling a single integrated patient health record. By having the same solution in ambulatory and inpatient settings, The Brooklyn Hospital Center's clinicians will have appropriate access to the patient's full health record when making care decisions."

The Eclipsys solutions will be remotely hosted by the ISO 9001:2000-certified Eclipsys Technology Solutions Center in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
