LEXINGTON, Mass., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- It may be November, but the heat is on as retailers including Macy's, HP and Nordstrom were beaten by J.C. Penny, Blockbuster and Overstock in the Sweet 16 round of the "Merchant Madness" tournament (1), says Gomez, Inc. Zappos, Foot Locker, Dell, Blockbuster, Overstock, J.C. Penney, REI and FreshDirect now face-off in the tournament's Elite 8 round, which runs from today until midnight on Wednesday, November 22. "Merchant Madness" pits the online performance of 64 retailers' websites (2) in order to crown the retailer that delivers the fastest, most available and most consistent website performance during the peak November online shopping season. The semifinals will run over the Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend, with all eyes on the championship, which takes place during Cyber Monday. Gomez will announce the ultimate winner on Tuesday, November 27.
